A creative community at my university
UET Innovation Space (official Vietnamese name: "Câu lạc bộ Thiết kế và Sáng tạo Trường Đại học Công nghệ") is a student-led creative club founded to give students a place to explore design and other creative disciplines together.
The club began with a focus on design, but gradually grew to include illustration, photography, video editing, and some programming. It was officially recognised as a school club in early 2025 and has since brought together students from University of Engineering and Technology (UET) and across the Vietnam National University Hanoi (VNU)'s ecosystem.
I co-founded the club shortly after starting at UET and was involved in building much of its early structure, from its visual identity and recruitment to its internal organisation, activities, and long-term direction.
More than a club, it's a community
From the beginning, the idea was to make UET Innovation Space (UET IS) more than a group of people with similar interests.
A functioning student club needs people, structure, activities, and a reason for those things to exist in the first place. A significant part of building UET IS was therefore figuring out how these pieces could work together while keeping the club open to different creative interests.
Over time, the club developed its own identity, organisational structure, recruitment process, leadership system, and programme of activities. It has also worked with other student organisations across VNU, giving members opportunities to work on things outside the club itself.
In a short time, UET IS has grown considerably from the small group it started with. During my time as the founding Vice President, I helped lead a community of around 120 members and worked with the team across roughly a dozen events and activities, including collaborations that reached beyond UET.
Some of those activities were relatively small and internal. Others were university-wide or involved working with organisations from other universities or businesses. Together, they gave the club a practical way to connect creative interests with actual opportunities to learn, collaborate, and contribute.
The club is now in a new stage of its development. I stepped away from the executive board in September 2026 as my academic workload increased, but remain involved as a Leadership Consultant, helping the new leadership team through the transition and sharing what I learned while building the club.
