Helping Communities Run Better
I've spent a lot of time working with online communities, from small groups to larger organisations with multiple teams and layers of staff.
My work in this area goes beyond moderation. I can help with community structure, staff systems, documentation, recruitment, leadership, engagement, and the day-to-day processes that keep an organisation running.

Structure & Operations
As a community grows, informal arrangements can eventually stop being enough.
I can help organise roles, responsibilities, departments, reporting structures, rules, guidelines, and internal documentation so that people have a better understanding of how the community operates.
This can also include reviewing existing systems and identifying areas that are causing unnecessary confusion or repeated problems.

Staff & Leadership
A community is heavily influenced by the people running it.
I can help with staff recruitment and qualification, onboarding, training, evaluation, and performance tracking. I can also work with existing leaders who need another perspective on organisational or management problems.
Where appropriate, I prefer helping people develop their own ability to run the organisation rather than simply taking over the work myself.
Community Development
Management is only one part of running a community.
I can also help with member engagement, feedback systems, events, community initiatives, moderation processes, and communication between members and staff.
When something isn't working, I prefer looking at why it keeps happening rather than only dealing with the individual incident. Sometimes the solution is a new rule; sometimes it is a change in structure, communication, or responsibility.
